Off-Campus Activities
Students who attend California Northstate University College of Pharmacy will have the good fortune to live in an area that provides an incredible array of indoor and outdoor activities to enrich the learning experience.
Those who live, work, and study in the Sacramento area refer to their water-bordered city as the "River City" because both the American River and the Sacramento River provide many forms of water recreation. The American River offers boating, swimming, and calm- and white-water rafting. Nearby Folsom Lake and the California State University at Sacramento Aquatic Center, located at Lake Natoma, offer sailing, kayaking, rowing, windsurfing, and many other water activities.
All the waters in the Sacramento area are stocked with fish; king salmon run in the American and Sacramento Rivers. The American River Bike Trail, stretching from Sacramento's Discovery Park to Folsom Lake, provides nearly 35 miles of scenic trail on 7,000 acres, used by cyclists, walkers, joggers, and bird watchers. These trails are well maintained and separated from the roads and cars.
A little known fact is Sacramento has more trees per capita than any other major city in the world except Paris, France. Many of those trees can be found in the more than 120 city parks in and around Sacramento, encompassing over 2,000 acres. Sacramento is a short, scenic drive to five national forests.
The Sacramento area's municipal golf courses comprise 540 acres. Sacramento has several equestrian centers and many horseback riding trails.
More than two dozen world class ski resorts that surround fabulous Lake Tahoe are within 100 miles to the Northeast of Sacramento, located in the nearby Sierra-Nevada Mountains. The world famous wine regions of Napa, Sonoma, and the Mendocino coast are 90 miles to the west of Sacramento, where you will find internationally renowned wineries and restaurants, including the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone.
Additionally, Sacramento is rich in music, theater, and art. The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, the world's largest congregation of jazz bands, takes place during Memorial Day weekend; it features more than 100 bands and attracts more than 100,000 listeners. California's largest nonprofit musical theatre,The California Musical Theatre, produces the Music Circus productions during the summer and Broadway Series productions during the rest of the year. The 24th Street Theatre is home to the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento. The Sacramento Ballet presents five performances annually.
Sacramento is home to the oldest art museum in the West. Established in 1873, the Crocker Art Museum's renowned permanent collection features European drawings and paintings by such masters as Rembrandt and Bruegel.
An infusion of upscale popular restaurants, nightclubs, and breweries have energized the nightlife in and around Sacramento.

Student Housing
Currently California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP) does not offer on-campus housing, however there is available housing that is easily accessible to the campus. Elk Grove offers housing accommodations ranging from apartments, condominiums, or single family homes within a 10 minute commute. Other cities within a short commuting distance include Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Gold River, and Sacramento. Rental prices within these cities range from $1,200 - $2,500 for apartments depending on the number of bedrooms and amenities offered. Single family homes for rent and for sale vary considerably within these areas; the most current listings are available through real estate websites such as Rent and ApartmentAdvisor.
