The CNUCOP offers a competitive, ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program, post-graduate residencies, and fellowship opportunities, as well as other post-graduate degree programs dedicated to preparing the next generation of pharmacists. We are located in Elk Grove, CA, near the intersection of I-5 and Elk Grove Boulevard.

The CNUCOP Pharm.D. Curriculum. Our innovative curriculum prepares our graduates to be "practice-ready" and to provide patient-centered and socially responsible care. Further, we are the only college of pharmacy in California which is located in the diverse and beautiful capital city of Sacramento, which affords many leadership and professional development opportunities to our students. We are committed to educating and training future pharmacists to provide competent, evidence-based patient care and advancing the pharmacy profession through advocacy, leadership and service. CNUCOP provides unique learning experiences to our students through the use of active learning, such as team-based learning (TBL), for many of our courses. Active learning stimulates student growth and development through practical application of material, real world exercises and self-reflections.

Community Service & Student Organizations. Our student are directly involved in community service designed to optimize the health and well-being of the Sacramento area. CNU is one of the first authorized COVID-19 vaccination sites in the area; our students, faculty and staff have been at the forefront of this community service. Early in the pandemic, CNUCOP compounded gallons of hand sanitizer which it provided to local fire fighters, first responders, nursing facilities, and schools.

CNUCOP has 18 different professional pharmacy student organizations that participate in a variety of activities aimed at promoting public health. Our students have many opportunities to assume leadership positions within the College, as well as within state and regional pharmacy organizations. This distinguishes our graduates when applying for scholarships and postgraduate opportunities.

Dual Degree and Pathway Options (eMBA/PharmD and MPS/PharmD). The College of Pharmacy offers two dual or combined degree programs. The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)/PharmD dual degree program is offered in conjunction with Sacramento State University. Students enrolled in this program take coursework related to accounting, leadership, and management, which better situates them to pursue administrative healthcare positions. PharmD students can also gain training for work in the pharmaceutical industry through the Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences/PharmD Pathway. The MPS also provides an academic pathway to the College of Medicine.

Interprofessional Education. COP students participate in a variety of interprofessional activities, including those delivered by the College of Pharmacy in association with CNU's College of Medicine and Sacramento State University School of Nursing. Our students learn to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team through hands-on experiences gained during high fidelity simulations with programmable manikins or in our Advanced Pharmacy Practice Laboratory, through research collaborations with faculty and preceptors, and during experiential education rotations in a variety of settings. Multiple opportunities exist for students to bridge theory and practice across the curriculum.

Student Awards and Success. Our unique curriculum, teaching modalities, dedicated faculty, and facilities provide professional and personal growth opportunities to our students. Each year our students excel in regional and national professional platforms and their work is recognized through a multitude of awards. For instance, for five years total (and four consecutive years, including 2021), CNUCOP Pharm.D. students have won the United States Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award, a national award that recognizes pharmacy students who have made significant contributions to public health. Also, five of our students have been honored with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Walmart Scholarship. Both of these national awards are among the highest honors bestowed upon pharmacy students. In each of the past two years, our graduates have secured over 17 PGY1 Residency or Post-Graduate Fellowship appointments. Finally, the Class of 2020 achieved the fourth highest scores among the 14 California PharmD programs on the California Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (CPJE) (the California State pharmacy boards).

Our Alumni - Our Partners and Our Strength. Our alumni have accepted leadership positions within the pharmaceutical industry, as well as other areas pharmacy practice. Dr. Archibong Yellow-Duke, a Class of 2013 alumnus, currently serves as the Medical Science Director at Genetech, while Dr. Gary Takher, Class of 2012 alumnus, serves as the Clinical Regional Account Director at AstraZeneca. Both Dr. Bin Deng and Dr. Jennifer Courtney, Class of 2014 and 2015 alumnus, respectively, have joined our clinical faculty and are highly active in the community as advisors of student organizations.
